The calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor is a rare lesion, described as benign neoplasm of odontogenic origin, which has variable clinical behavior. The aim of this paper is to present a case of calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor associate to odontoma. This is an 11 year male patient, who was treated at Maxillofacial Surgery Service, Hospital Santo Antônio-OSID/Salvador-BA and who presented intraoral swelling with no pain in the mandibular body region. The imaging examination revealed a well-defined unilocular radiolucent lesion, which extended from the lateral region of the lower left first premolar to the incisor, associated with a radiopaque mass within the unit, displaced supernumerary mandibular basilar. Excisional biopsy of the lesion was performed, and it confirmed the diagnosis of cystic odontogenic tumor associated with odontoma calcifying. At present, the patient is with no signs of recurrence during this two year follow-up orthodontic treatment. Knowledge of the calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor characteristics, detailed clinical examination and additional tests are the basis for accurate diagnosis in order to offer patients the most appropriate treatment, which currently consists of total enucleation of the lesion achieving good prognosis, and rare recurrence.Downloads
