Abstract
The first Multidisciplinary Dentistry Chair of the country for the study of Occlusion Dentaria "Plácido Ardanza Zulueta" counts among its honorary members with Dr.C. Gladys González González, Dr.C. Ileana Grau León, Dr.C. Amparo Pérez Borrego, Dr.C. Felix Companeoni Landín, and Dr.C. José Montero Parrilla; and develops four sub-lines of research with eight themes related to each of them.At the Santa Cecilia Convention Center in the city of Camagüey, on December 8, 2017, the Second National Occlusion Workshop was held under the auspices of the Prosthodontics and Comprehensive Stomatology chapters of the Cuban Society of Stomatology, the contribution of the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey and the Provincial Directorate of Health. The opening of the activity was carried out by the chair of the chair, MSc. Dra. Silvia María Díaz Gómez and the rest of the scientific activity was in charge of chemical engineers and mechanical doctors of the Technical Sciences as well as health professionals, from six provinces of Cuba.
Between November 10 and 17, five pre-workshop courses were offered in which content was discussed and deepened in order to improve the quality of life of patients with alterations in dental occlusion and to promote multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary good dental practices.
As professors of pre-Taller courses, they entered into the following subjects: Research and scientific article MSc. Dayamí Bembibre Mozo, in Occlusion in the bucomaxillofacial prosthesis MSc. Dr. Isidro Nápoles González and the MSc. Dr. Elizabeth Puig Capote, in the Dental Implantology MSc. Dr. Clara Landría Díaz and the MSc. Dr. Judith Aúcar López, in the Panoramic of the occlusion Dr. Bismar Hernández Reyes, as well as in the Value of the occlusion in the Orthognathic, the MSc. Dr. Alexis Siré Gómez, MSc. Dr. Siomara Hidalgo and the MSc. Dr. Oscar Rivero Pérez
The central activity of the workshop involved 70 delegates who actively participated in the discussion of issues addressed by specialists in Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontics and Maxillofacial Surgery, doctors specialized in Genetics, Bioenergetics and Natural Medicine, Psychiatry, Hemotherapy, professionals distinguished as forensic experts, mechanical engineers, tribology researchers and chemical engineers specializing in corrosion to develop research, education for health, diagnosis and treatment of different alterations of occlusion and especially, bruxism, from multidiscipline , interdiscipline and also from transdisciplinarity.
The keynotes of the MSc were highlighted. Dr. Rosaralis Arrieta García "Genetics and bruxism", from MSc. Dr. Pablo Hernández Figaredo "Coping resources for stress". The MSc. Dr. Manuel Labrada Salvat and Dr.C. María de Lourdes de la Cruz Aragoneses with the theme "Oxidation, corrosion by deposition of amalgams, volumetric changes and ingestion of mercury in bruxópatas". The MSc. Dr. Julio Barciela Calderón and Dr. Miriela Betancourt Valladares with the "Body posture and alterations of the occlusion" and "The physiological mechanisms of pain".
During the scientific discussion that followed the topics approached from different research perspectives, the dissertation that was highlighted by a coherent, interdisciplinary and promising debate for the development of science was "Genetics and bruxism". The plenary conclusions resulting from the collective discussion and those of greater relevance were related to protocolizing actions aimed at the treatment of patients with bruxism at the different levels of care, the value of the clinical history as an instrument in the examination of the stomatognathic system, the repercussion of the previous guide of the occlusion in the evaluation of the dental interferences, the occlusal splints in the Orthognathic, and the probabilistic prediction and interception of causal factors.
