Centralized pediatric emergency in maxillofacial surgery

A total of 2 190 children attended in the centralized emergency service of maxillofacial surgery of the Teaching Clinical and Surgical Hospital "Saturnino Lora" of Santiago de Cuba during 18 months (January 1985 to June 1986) were studied, where it was found that the orofacial injuries and the Odontogenic facial cellulitis, mainly due to traumatic causes (mainly in the soft tissues of the face) and infections. Of the children who required income, most of them received surgical treatment, basically synthesis of the wounds and reduction-fixation of the fractures. The period of 4 p.m. at 12 o'clock in the evening and on Sunday they were the schedule and day of greatest assistance activity in the aforementioned service.Downloads
