This paper has a methodological character and tries to interrelate primary oral health care with the family physician and nurse. It is mainly supported by the basic working groups, which are organizational units that manage primary health care with an assistance, teaching and investigative approach. The concept of the family physician and nurse and their articulation with the stomatologist at the primary care level are deeply analyzed. General aspects connected with the composition and structure of the basic working groups, the health institutions with dental care, and with the levels of attention and services are dealt with according to their complexity. The activities carried out by the stomatologist in the community, at the polyclinic, the dental clinic, and the hospital are stressed. The experiences and prospects of dental care are exposed. To achieve this interrelation it is necessary to have a stomatologist taking part in the training and upgrading process of the specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine, as well as in the planning, organization, management, and control related to the fulfillment of the objectives of the National Program of Comprehensive Dental Care to the Population.Downloads
