Lipid Peroxidation in Experimental Inflammatory Periodontal Disease
Abstract
The peroxidation of the lipids of the membranes of the periodontal tissues seems to be involved in the etiopathogenesis of inflammatory periodontal disease. In this study we used Beagles dogs, which were caused by the disease, by ligation of the teeth of a hemiarcade, while the opposite hemiarcade was used as a control. At the end of the experiment, the variables studied (depth of the gingival sulcus, bone height and levels of malonyl-dialdehyde) were significantly higher in the bound hemiarcade, with respect to the not linked We conclude that the use of this model is feasible in our conditions. This results support the theory of the participation of lipid peroxidation in the etiopathogenesis of the disease inflammatory periodontal...Downloads
