Mandibular reconstruction of a post-surgical deformity due to trauma

Introduction: the need for mandibular reconstruction is dictated by bone loss due to, among other causes trauma.
Aim: to characterize a case of mandibular reconstruction in post-surgical trauma deformity.
Case presentation: a 34 years male patient that comes in for aesthetic disagreement and difficulty chewing it after about a year before receiving facial trauma, emergency and be served afterwards underwent surgery with bone stabilization and placement mandibular reconstruction plate; shows facial asymmetry, decreased mobility and lower third facial mandibular bone segments, which is decided to perform removal of existing plaque, rearrangement of the bone segments, autologous graft placement and fixation iliac crest. Good postoperative evolution was observed.
Conclusions: in the case presented the aesthetic and functional impairment in a young patient with a deformity postsurgical trauma; motivated the planning of a mandibular reconstruction with rigid plate and iliac graft. This was a professional challenge because it is a postoperative deformity caused by high energy trauma. The surgical teamwork ensured satisfactory results.
