Abstract

We evaluated the results obtained with early staphyloraphy in patients with cleft palate or palatine cleft after 5 years in the application of this therapeutic method (1987-1989) in the Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the Pediatric South Teaching Hospital of Santiago de Cuba. Good results were seen in the intermaxillary occlusion as well as in the development of the maxilla, and in most of the patients without using preoperative devices there were achievements from the logofoniátrico point of view.
