Abstract

A clinical and radiological study of 103 patients who were implanted Cuban coralline (hydroxyapatite) in different affections of the buccomaxillofacial complex is conducted. An explanation is given on the clinical experiences obtained with the utilization of this material in the form of previously shaped granules and blocks to fill bone cavities created by cysts in preprosthetic surgery, as a filling of bone defects caused by tumors, and in orthognatic and camouflage surgery. The results are excellent. Neither adverse reactions nor rejection to the material used are observed.
