Association of the oral health with the family and the dentist

In the relationship between the individuals and the society, the family plays anactive and functional role. Even though the family is the smallest structural
component of society, it has vital significance. Dentistry specialists should know as
much as possible the health situation in the community, the peculiarities, the system of values, customs and traditions, the existing situations, so that they might
focus the promotion and educational work in oral health on its members. With the
objective of delving into the relationship between the family and the dentist, a
literature review was made in Infomed, Pubmed and Scielo. From 60 articles, 35
were selected on the basis of updating and linking to the topic. It was concluded
that as the individual and the family assess and participate in oral health
preservation in a greater extent, the future results will be better. Education on oral
health must be upgraded, and for this, the work of dentists is of vital importance,
since they are responsible for guiding and giving orientations to raise the
educational level in this field.
