Abstract

The family is an active element and mediator in relationships of subjects with
society. It is the smaller structural component of the society, but it is a vital
significance. Stomatologists must to know the health status of the families in
community, its particular features, value system, habits, traditions and situations
went through. It will allow them to direct its work on the base of the found
difficulties. A bibliographic review was conducted to formulate the role and
responsibility of family in face of oral health, as well as to express the stomatologist role in the buccodental health of community. We conclude that insofar as the
subject and its family to value and be involved in the health preservation, better
results will be obtained in the future. It is necessary to continue in the task to
improve the culture on oral health in the family and that in this activity it is
essential the stomatologist role since they are who guide and to orient population
to raise the educational level related to oral health.
