Knowledge of pregnant women from "Carlos J. Finlay" health area on oral health

A study was conducted in pregnant women less than 14 weeks pregnant, belonging to the "Carlos J. Finlay" Polyclinic of Santiago de Cuba, in the period between January and March of 2002, with the purpose of investigating about their knowledge in the sphere of oral health. The universe constituted by 45 pregnant women. For the study, 2 age groups were formed taking into account the physical-mental maturity of pregnant women: under 20 years old and over 20 years old. For the collection of the information a questionnaire was elaborated with the objective of facilitating the results. It was observed that the level of knowledge on the subjects evaluated was incorrect in both groups of study, but the pregnant women belonging to the group under 20 years old, showed a lower level of knowledge, for which an educational intervention is recommended, as well as carrying out similar studies in the different entities of the municipality.Downloads
