Aballí” Polyclinic, Habana Vieja Municipality, belonging to 14 family physician consulting rooms selected, from October 2005 to July 2006, to estimate prevalence and severity of periodontal disease, and to determine risk factors associated with this condition. A total of 229 patients were choosed by randomized selection with a probability proportional to dimensions of family physician consulting rooms. From study factors, smoking, deficient hygiene, and use of Nifedipine, showed a statistically significant association in relation to periodontitis.
