Abstract

The case of a male patient aged 10-years with dental retention of right superior central incisor caused by a compound odontoma was presented in this paper. The diagnosis of this odontoma was confirmed clinically and histologically. The residual osseous defect after enucleation of such tumor was filled with HAP-200 type porous hydroxiapatite and the tooth was taken back to its position in dental archade with orthodontic implements. Thanks to this kind of surgical/orthodontic treatment, it was possible to reach a very good functional aesthetic result in this patient. It was confirmed that this type of lesion is one of the local causes of dental retention.
