Abstract

There are many variants of non-extraction treatment of class II malocclusion. One of these variants consists of turning class II into class I molar relation through the displacement of upper molar to distal position at the initial stages of the treatment. This procedure is interesting but controversial since it moves teeth contrary to the normal mesial movement that they show during the whole life. However, this method has aroused the interest of prestigious researchers who have begun to delve into its application, so novel and mostly fixed intraoral techniques that use increasingly effective materials have emerged. All these appliances are effective distalizers but bother the patients, interfere with their oral hygiene and, above all, they are very expensive. Taking into account the above-mentioned, it was decided to make this paper to expand knowledge on BENAC distalization plate that is an intraoral removable appliance, its design and benefits. It was concluded that this very low cost plate allows adequate oral hygiene, is more acceptable for patients and achieves results similar to those of state-of-the-art techniques.
