Abstract

The transformations occurring among pregnant women that make possible the appearance or development of oral diseases are dealt with. The variations in the levels of female sex hormones, saliva, microorganisms and diet, among others, are some of the factors that may influence the development of oral diseases that should be taken into account during pregnancy. The dental tissue, those tissues supporting the tooth, and the oral mucose, among others, are the most vulnerable to be affected by these changes, which have a repercussion on oral health.
