Abstract

Saliva as a diagnostic means allows to recognize the concentrations of a series of both endogenous and exogenous components present in the organism. Thanks to the antibodies present in saliva, new biomedical technologies can be applied in the diagnosis of the human immunodeficiency syndrome caused by HIV. This novel method has many advantages over blood tests. Information about oral fluids, the various components with possibility of diagnosis present in saliva is presented and the characteristics of a diagnostic method (Omni-Sal®) applied to people suffering from some disease of the oral complex are established.
