Detection of occlusal interferences in patients with temporomandibular disorders
Abstract
20 patients with signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders were studied. Techniques of multimodal relaxation were applied in order to analyze the behaviour of occlusal interferences in the protrusion and lateral movements. The clinical scanning of this type of interference in the protrusion and lateral movements was carried out. The occlusal interferences in the protrusion and lateral movements were analyzed in the study models mounted in a semi-adjustable articulator by using the technique of transportation by means of facial arch and intraoral registries. The results obtained showed a predominance of the occlusal interferences in the studied patients with tremporomandibular disorders. The highest percentage of interferences was found during the protrusive movement. Interferences were more frequent on the non-working side for the analyzed movements. The group of molars proved to be the most affected in both movements.Downloads
