Abstract

An applied longitudinal descriptive investigation was carried out with all the patients carrying salivary gland tumors who needed surgical treatment in the Maxillofacial Surgery Service of the "Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía" Clinical and Surgical University Hospital of Cienfuegos, during the period from January 1990 to December. 1999. A predominance of females was observed, as well as of the age group over 60. The most affected gland was the parotid gland, within the adenomas, the pleomorph was the most frequent, while the adenoid cystic carcinoma was the most frequent. the group of carcinomas. Surgery was the main therapeutic weapon, followed by the surgical-radiant combination. In addition, some chemotherapy schemes are analyzed.
