Abstract

The prosthetic rehabilitation of a patient involves a series of changes, which at one time are translated into an entire adaptive process. Once the prosthesis is installed in the patient, he or she is instructed in what he or she must do to better adapt it, and instructions are given on the use and care of the prosthesis. The nocturnal use of the prosthesis was the driving force for our work, in which we were given the task of relating the adaptation with night use in terms of installed time, previous prosthetic experience, type of prosthesis and nighttime use. For its realization, 50 patients belonging to the 25th clinic of the "Manuel Angulo Farrán" Stomatological Clinic were surveyed, which evidenced that there is a direct relationship between nighttime use and favorable adaptation as the time of use is prolonged and of the prosthesis installed, in the patient who had previous prosthetic experience and in the carriers of total upper and lower acrylic prostheses.
