Abstract

A study of how the Early Detection of Oral Cancer Plan (PDCB) was conducted in Artemisa between 1992 and 1996. It was demonstrated that from the creation of the Maxillofacial Surgery Service and the incorporation of the family doctor to This plan greatly increased referrals, since in the years 92-93 there were only 33 referrals by 215 in the 94-96 period. The great support of the family doctor to this plan is demonstrated, since in years 94, 95 and 96 the 33.3, 41.1 and 34.8%, respectively, of the referrals were made by them, which provides an important support to the early detection of malignant and premalignant lesions and the consequent prevention and improvement of the bucofacial health of its population.
