Surgical pathology of salivary glands: Report of 79 cases
Abstract
An updated review of the surgical pathology of the major salivary glands is performed and the results obtained in 7 years of experience are presented, from January 1990 to December 1996 in 79 patients with this pathology in the Provincial Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital "Dr Gustavo Aldereguía Lima "of Cienfuegos. The different inflammatory, lithiasic and tumoral processes of the salivary glands and the therapeutic used are analyzed. The average age was 50.7 years, with a predominance of females; the most frequent pathology was the tumor and within this the adenomas, with 52%, followed by related injuries with 29.1% and carcinomas with 10.2%. Surgery alone or combined with other procedures were the main pillars of treatment.Downloads
