Abstract

The effectiveness of osteocoral as an implant material in the treatment of infraspinatus bags of monoradicular teeth was evaluated. 18 grafts were performed in 17 teeth with angular defects, in 6 patients of both sexes; 9 implants corresponded to the control group with hydroxyapatite and 9 to the study group that was implanted with osteocoral. Initial preparation was performed, which included: removal of calculus and polishing of dental surfaces, education and motivation about the treatment received, brushing correction equal to or greater than 80% in the removal of dentobacterial plaque. The implant was performed by flap operation, with suture and placement of periodontal dressing. Control X-rays were taken at 14 days, at 3 and 6 months. Oral hygiene was systematically controlled. After 6 months, the clinical indicators were again recorded. The final analysis of the results showed a statistically significant decrease in the gingival index, depth of the pocket to the sounding and tooth mobility for both implant materials. No large differences were reported among these for this sample size, there were no adverse reactions and the osteocoral implant was maintained, so treatment was considered effective.
