Clinical-histopathological correlation in chronic inflammatory periodontal disease

Abstract

The study of 40 selected biopsies was carried out in the Department of Pathology of the Faculty of Stomatology of Havana, 20 corresponding to patients with clinical diagnosis of chronic gingivitis and 20 patients with periodontitis, in order to know the main changes that occur in the epithelium and the lamina propria. These cases had the condition of not referring to the interrogation systemic disease, which was verified by consulting the clinical histories of the selected cases. The analysis of the samples of biopsies obtained showed the high correspondence of the clinical diagnosis and the histomorphological findings, which corroborates a series of studies carried out in our country and worldwide.
