Abstract

It is suggested that chamomile has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. The stomatological effect of brushing was evaluated with a toothpaste containing chamomile essential oil, once a day for 21 days in 27 10-year-old children, and in another 23 children who were brushed with a placebo toothpaste. Between the groups, there were no significant differences in the parameters evaluated at the beginning. The group brushed with chamomile toothpaste significantly reduced gingivitis and the degree of Streptococcus mutans infection in relation to the control.
