Diadynamic currents and ultrasound in the treatment of temporomandibular dysfunctions
Abstract
A preliminary study was conducted in 20 patients on the application of diadynamic currents and ultrasound for the treatment of muscular pain, joint pain and joint and muscle pain in temporomandibular dysfunctions. A total of 10 treatment sessions were applied to each of the patients in the "Calixto García" Teaching Hospital of Havana City and the present pain index (PID) was used before and after the treatment, to evaluate the intensity first. of pain and second the effectiveness of these treatments. Total pain relief was obtained in 17 patients, which represents 85% of the total treated and the remaining 3 had a partial relief of pain reaching a pain index of 1. This method is effective to treat muscle, joint and muscle pain. muscle and joint jointly in patients with temporomandibular disorders, even if only in the first stage of treatment.Downloads
