Abstract

An observational, prospective and descriptive study of 27 patients with clinical and histopathological diagnosis of chronic parotiditis was carried out, in order to know their behavior in our environment during the period 1994-1995. Of the 27 patients, 19 were female (70.4%) and 8 male. In 3.7% an age lower than 10 years was observed; the left parotid was the most affected. The Blair surgical technique was used in 19 patients (70.4%) and the Operational mortality was zero. Four patients (14.8%) presented complications. This entity is frequent in children, its clinical picture oscillates between months and years, which is why it is not uncommon after of the first decades of life.
