Use of hydroxyapatite in maxillofacial surgery: Bibliographic update
Abstract
A review of the updated international literature is presented, as well as some experiences in our country on the update of hydroxyapatite in different maxillofacial conditions. Very relevant results are exposed with this implant material highly compatible with the bone tissue as in the increase of atrophic alveolar ridges, in the preservation of alveolar ridges, in orthognathic surgery, in traumatology, in camouflage surgery and as filling of areas osteolytic created by cysts and tumors. The advances achieved in the implantalogy are detailed after appearing this material after the decade of the 70s, due to the advantages it offers, unlike other previously used materials.Downloads
