Abstract

Introduction: Proprioception informs to the body the position of the muscles, regulating the direction and ranges of the move, hence the significance of the medical intervention in order to improve health indicators related to it.
Objective: The objective is to identify by means of the Fukuda test, the variation of the propioception, after the extraction of the third molar.
Methods: The present study was carried out during the months of July-August, 2015 in the area of maxillofacial surgery of the Pablo Arturo Suárez hospital of Ecuador. The research is exploratory, prospective, observational and longitudinal. The simple includes 30 patients aged 16-56, 13 are men and 17 are women. The inclusion criteria were to have at least two third molars one at each side in the lower jaw and not suffering from vestibular disorders, ear infections and proprioception alterations by conditions of the nervous system.
Results: It was proved that there is a significant difference (p< 0,013) in the motor displacements of the subjects undergone to study after the extraction of the third molars, but there is no significant difference in the degrees of the body turns (p< 0,62).
Conclusions: The bad position of the third molars might alter the proprioception, therefore, the extraction reduces the proprioceptive alterations, specifying the longitudinal displacement as a significant variable, and the deviations of the degrees of the body turns as non-significant.
